  • Model: The 1930s
More than 30 artists represent the 1930s with paper dolls of stars, styles and subjects including Jean Harlow, Marion Davies, Ginger Rogers, Wallis Simpson, Paulette Goddard, early air travel and comic characters.

For our feature article, Brenda Mattox offers an overview of 1930s fashion, contrasting the make-and-do clothes of the Great Depression and the glamorous fashions of Hollywood's Golden Era. David Wolfe spotlights two prominent figures of the decade—Busby Berkeley and his fantastical film fashions, and style icon Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor. Continuing our image-likeness series, we get tips from Kwei-lin Lum, David Wolfe and Marilyn Henry.

Our cover features "Faye at 30" by Brenda Sneathen Mattox. Brenda was our featured artist in 1989 and the theme was The Flirty Thirties. Nearly 30 years has gone by and we figured it was about time to revisit one of the loveliest decades for fashion.
